Before the School Day The decision to close the school may be taken by the Headteacher in response to an emergency such as snow, flooding, lack of water, heating or other public health issue. The decision will always be taken as a last resort. Once the decision has been taken to close the school, parents will be informed immediately via the following channels:
- Cornwall Council
- Local radio station
- The school website
- The school Facebook page
- SchoolComms
Please check local public transport timetables for updates regarding delayed or cancelled services. The school will inform transport providers of the closure. During the School Day If the decision is made by the Headteacher to close the school during the school day, the following steps will be taken:
● Cornwall County Council will be informed
● Local radio stations will be informed
● Parents will be contacted via SchoolComms
● A message will go out via our social media
● Local transport companies contacted to collect the students as quickly as circumstances allow
No student will be permitted to leave site without confirmation from a person with parental responsibility. Once permission has been granted, students may be collected, walk home, get lifts with friends or have other arrangements made. Members of the Leadership Team will be based on the front gate and confirm students leaving. It is our priority that all students leave safely. A member of the Leadership Team will remain on site until all children have left safely.
